Menopause and Cannabis

Menopause should not be seen as a crisis but celebrated as a part of our ever evolving selves.  Now yes, there can be some undesirable side effects at times but there are ways to help combat them.

Cannabis, or more specifically its active compounds known as cannabinoids, has been shown to provide relief for some of the symptoms associated with menopause. Here are a few ways in which cannabis may be helpful:

Hot flashes: Hot flashes are a common symptom of menopause and can be uncomfortable and disruptive. Cannabis has been found to reduce the frequency and intensity of hot flashes, possibly due to its ability to interact with the body's endocannabinoid system.

Sleep disturbances: Many women experience difficulty sleeping during menopause, and cannabis has been shown to help improve sleep quality and duration.

Pain relief: Menopause can cause various types of pain, including headaches, joint pain, and muscle pain. Cannabis has been shown to have analgesic properties and can help relieve pain.

Mood regulation: Menopause can also cause mood changes, including irritability, anxiety, and depression. Cannabis has been shown to have mood-regulating effects and may help alleviate these symptoms.

It is important to note that while cannabis may be helpful for some women experiencing menopause, it is not a cure-all and may not be appropriate for everyone. It is always important to consult with a healthcare professional before trying any new treatments or medications.
